Attention – As of Monday, 12/16/2024, the process for initiating reliance requests has changed for all types of reliance submissions.
Requests for UConn to serve as the IRB of record for nonexempt research will begin with a completed Request for UConn to Serve as the IRB of Record form emailed to irb-reliance@uconn.edu. This form should be emailed prior to creating the InfoEd submission for the study.
Requests for UConn to rely on an external IRB for nonexempt research will be entered into InfoEd as a “Request to rely on a non-UConn IRB” submission.
Requests for UConn to concur with an external exemption determination will be entered into InfoEd as an “External Exempt” submission.
The External Involvement/Reliance Intake Form for Non-UConn Research Sites will no longer be used to initiate reliance requests. |
IRB Reliance is when one IRB agrees to serve as IRB of Record for another institution. This page will provide information to assist researchers with collaborative and multi-site research issues, including helping identify the best single IRB review option for their studies and facilitating reliance agreements.
While this page is under development, we are here to help. To obtain assistance with reliance, please contact us at irb-reliance@uconn.edu.
IRB Reliance Forms
Requests to cede review to an external IRB, including BRANY IRB, are initiated in InfoEd. Requests for UConn to serve as the IRB of record for other entities are initiated outside of the system using the Request for UConn to Serve as the IRB of Record Form.
BRANY IRB template forms are available on the BRANY IRB webpage.
The reliance forms found below are required uploads for some types of reliance submissions in InfoEd. If a form is required as part of your submission, you will be prompted to upload it as part of your InfoEd application.
