RCR Training Opportunities at UConn
Online RCR Training Course through the CITI Program
To create an account in the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program, on the citiprogram.org home page, click on the Register button in the upper right. Click on “Log in through my Organization” at the top of the page. Enter “UConn – Storrs and Regional Campuses” in the search box. Then click “Continue to SSO Login/instructions.” The CITI Single Sign-on (SSO) will use your UConn NetID and password for your account. (The system will ask you if there is another CITI account you would like to associate with your NetID account, and this option can be used to merge an old account with your new SSO account.) Follow the prompts to create a new account. Once you are logged in and under the UConn affiliation, select “add a course” to be led to the course selection page. Select the Responsible Conduct of Research course. A copy of your Completion Report will automatically be sent to the RCR Program Office.
Workshops and Courses
*Please Note: As the UConn RCR Program's in-person training opportunities are ever-evolving, we encourage you to consider how existing departmental events, seminars, or workshops could be leveraged to incorporate RCR-specific learnings to meet the requirements as well. Please contact the RCR Program Office to discuss or further brainstorm on how your department may wish to partner with the OVPR in developing content for this effort. |
OPTION 1 – Responsible Conduct of Research Training Workshops
At least 8 hours of RCR face-to-face training must be completed to meet NIH requirements and will eliminate the need to complete the online CITI RCR modules. Spring 2023 RCR Training Workshops will be hosted throughout the month of February and will be presented live via WebEx. Each attendee will need to attend at least 8 hours of unique presentation material. All sessions are 1 hour long including both presentation and discussion if attendees have any questions about the presentations. Presenters will be presenting at various different times throughout the month to accommodate class schedules (i.e., unique presentations will not both be on a Tuesday at 10 a.m. to minimize conflict with classes). If you plan on attending RCR workshops, please sign up for 8 unique sessions (i.e., do not register for same "session name" twice). When using the sign-up link, please use the Register link on the associated page. You should receive an "Approval" email after signing up. If you have any questions or concerns regarding sign-up for the presentations, please contact nicholas.lacafta@uconn.edu. Please note: Sessions start promptly. Latecomers risk not receiving credit.

In addition, GRAD 5910: Responsible Conduct in Research, is a 1-credit graduate course offered every semester which satisfies the RCR requirement. Please be advised that there is a mandatory in-person course participation requirement for this course.
