COVID-19 Guidance for the UConn Research Community

Consistent with Governor Lamont’s April 30th Update on Connecticut's Coronavirus Response Efforts, a phased reopening of UConn and UConn Health research programs will begin on May 20, 2020.

Guidance on Phased Reopening

The gradual process to reopen labs will begin on May 20, 2020. Labs CANNOT reopen until they obtain approval from the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) to resume research activity. Steps Required to Reopen Labs, Field Research, and Human Subjects Research

Currently, all of the following elements are required in order to resume research activity at UConn, UConn Health, and regional campuses. Without explicit approval from the OVPR, labs, field research, and human subjects research may not open.

Please note, individuals who do not follow safety protocols will not be allowed access to labs and research spaces—No Exceptions. Labs that are noncompliant will have sanctions imposed including and up to immediate shutdown of the laboratory.

COVID-19 UConn Research Dashboard

Through the COVID-19 UConn Research Dashboard, the OVPR is providing updates on how many submissions are pending, approved, and estimated turnaround time on requests to reopen labs. A list of approved labs will also be posted after May 20, 2020.
